What can compare to this love? What could stand a chance against the glory and grace of God, and my King? That small crescent of the sun on the sea’s horizon at the break of dawn — // Bringing an entire day of light to the land — the ocean pulling the incoming day. This is where my love is and my tide rises with him, as the sun and I become morning.
When we are one, it is at the top of a peak — it is quiet, silence and light the air and temperature is of no real importance — a veil flows like a flag. However there is no bottom beneath us.
How I got there, unknown. But at a moment, he appears and we interlock. He holds me and assures I am whole and healed for I am there, within him.
Notes,: this poem is free-verse, yet in the container of a Sonnet. It follows no rules like scansion, because this is a metaphysical conceit bound solely to beauty, built with the castle like form of a sonnet.
The sun consists of love and light to become God’s true nature. How could our scientific lens capture His full bloom? Camera’s show light stream from a bud – the world now the beginning
creation — rather when our spirit dances it casts light over the shadows, beauty twirling into the heart without fear, but glory.
note: I casted this Sonnet in Hexameter, with the envoy to juxtapose the Sestet casted in pentameter, however, hexameter used in line 10 and the penultimate. I was hoping for the expansiveness of God to come through with the breath, when reading the lines of hexameter. The use of prosody I did not fully deploy here, however, maybe another draft would prove it usefull. This is one of those poems that I have been working on for too long, so I am freeing it to see where it goes.
Dear Daughter, I want to give you the mountains and the freshest fruit and a shooting star to show who you are. I want to give you the summer after a long cold winter. I want to give you endless happiness. I want to give you a house of flowers. I want the church bells to ring every year on your Birthday, and the candles on your cake giving you each wish you made. I want to give you the knowing of how much I love you and cherish you and how I am blessed by your preciousness and find so much joy in who you are. Love, Mom
I had found a way in with the sonnet, God, in this glass vessel of holy water – reflecting the sun while crystal rainbows shined out into day – divine assurance // unchanging deliverance this almighty sound in meter, this matter(s). I will sing forevermore – a locket of light anchored in my heart.
God’s Children, Flip Book: This is a book of Children Poems I wrote and was illustrated by my daughter, Dahlia. The book consists of Sonnets, Hymns, Villanelles, Ballads, (Heroic) Couplets, Epigrams, Heterometric Rhymes, Odes, Biblical Free Verse, and other Forms of poetry, including ranges of prosody. It is appropriate for all ages.
It is mostly rhyming poetry and Christian based. Surely, I have not taken my verse to the Pulpit. Instead, I have composed contemporary poetry written for children with the message and fibers of Christian faith with its joy, kindness, peace and love with one’s self and others.
When you click on the link and flip through the pages, you may have to wait a minute for the images to upload. (Depending on your internet connection.) I hope you enjoy the book and I hope it inspires some of our children to enact on their own creative endeavors. It brought me great joy working with my daughter creating this book and I am super proud of her. The book was written for my daughter, and I also hope that every child knows how precious and sacred they are.
To follow nature we hold our child’s hand to God’s door. When this all matures with the weeping willow and the joy in heart flowers we brush the Yellow Poplar to find the green showing
its vastness. From the beginning with the sprouts in the greenhouse to lovelit orchards: this life is grace. The sun dances around the moon as if dancing the movement of time. It is here, I say to my child, Amen.
This is a Sonnet of mine, which I would love to see in my book project, God’s Children.
